Build, defend, fight back.  Prototype of a strategy / schmup hybrid, by Keith Dreibelbis for MIT xPRO certificate in game design.

Development will continue.  Future work:

  • Player needs incentive to explore the ocean floor.  Need to introduce more resource types or upgrades that can only be found there.
  • Player needs to be able to give orders to allies.
  • Player shouldn’t be able to destroy enemy portals - allies ought to be needed for that.
  • Undersea dangers and enemies.
  • Some method for expansion, e.g. player should be able to build further away.
  • Awareness of enemy location and/or alarms when home is in danger.
  • Needs characters - the pilot, for one, and the ocean itself.
  • Balancing.
  • Of course… non-placeholder art!
